Around The Bend Caption: "Around The Bend", 38" x 24", oil on linen "A couple of summers ago I spent most of my field painting time chasing scenes in and around the Caledon region where I reside. Although I have lived here for years, my attention had been distracted by Lake Superior and Georgian Bay as I was developing a body of canvases for our COAST To CANVAS Project. With that behind me, and early planning underway that would take much further afield (our present Into the ARCTIC Project), I found myself wanting to get reacquainted with the lovely countryside that I live in. The result was a series of small oil paintings. Among these I found a couple of scenes very compelling, just begging to be be done on a larger scale. "Around the Bend", begun while standing in the Credit River with my easel, is the first of these that I have completed." STATUS: Private Collection
