"The birth of a painting. Sometimes it's from a planned excursion far away involving months of planning. And at times, like this one, it's from throwing my gear in the truck and heading out for a morning drive around my home in Caledon. These drives sometime lead nowhere. Not that I get lost, it's just that the act of wizzing by the landscape, and the ease of doing so in a vehicle, can cause me to pass on a lot of possibilites, curious to see what's down the next road. I try to go slow to prevent this, and at times I am rewarded with finding gems like this split rail fence sagging across an unnamed creek. It was time to put it in park, and set my easle up."
