"After The Rain", Georgian Bay

“A wonderful part about being out in nature is how our surroundings continually change. In addition to broader modifications brought on by the seasons and slower influences like erosion, the landscape often transforms right before your eyes, moment to moment.

Such was the case when I developed this painting among some islands near the Bustards in Georgian Bay. The normally tan rocks that break the water’s surface took on rich silvery hues with the falling rain. The film of water covering these hard surfaces reflected the gray skies creating a monochromatic scene, while the saturated ochre grasses accentuated the subdued scene.

These variations in nature are never ending, and keep me coming back for more.”
