X marks the location where this painting began
Began at Chikinashing Creek (on the south side of Killarney Provincial Park) where there is great access and ample parking (check in at main gate for permit. It took around 2 hours to reach the Fox Islands. Although there were some threatening winds, nothing too serious materialized. There are many locations for refuge if it does get nasty.

“Inspiration for this painting was not hard to come by. After putting in at Killarney Provincial Park and paddling for a couple of hours east on Georgian Bay, we set up camp near these unique and beautiful Fox Islands. The fact that there is more rock than vegetation on some of these islands seemed to cause the spring colours to contrast all the more with the fresh mosses and new leaves. The late afternoon light brought out the bouquet of hues further as its glow drew rich tones out of everything it touched.”
