X marks the location where this painting began

TRIP NOTES:
Paddling to Pic Island took about 3 hours. A gentle breeze caused little problems. Have to cross about 800 meters of open water so pick your days as you could get standed there for a while if it kicks up. Nice protected beach campsite on east side of the island tucked into a bay. |

"Past the far point where the sun is setting is where the beginning of our journey began. It was on the beaches of Neys Provincial Park, where we launched our canoe and rested just around the corner from this scene on Pic Island. The lone spruce separated from the rest of the trees initially caught my attention, and inspired me to begin painting at this location. As I continued to work however, I was treated to a brief glimpse of evening magenta as the sun disappeared behind the hills. It was almost dark when I finished the field work on this piece, and as I made my way back to
our campsite, I couldn't help but look forward to all we were about to see."
